While there is some resistance to returning to the office, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) limits 100% remote work for its employees.
The consultancy company has decided to start a policy to encourage its employees to work on-site. As N Ganapathy Subramaniam, TCS chief operating officer at TCS said: “There is a greater realization that by coming to offices, more things get done, especially for people who have joined us in the last two years. When they see the offices, they see a different perspective of TCS. They see a different perspective of their own position vis-a-vis their peers.”
TCS is promoting the idea that being on-site will positively impact employees. Currently, the company isn’t making the decision mandatory because of possible new Covid waves. As the TCS Chief highlights: “At this stage, we are exercising certain amount of discretion because some people have fears of coming to office because of an impending Covid wave or whatever you want to call it. But at the same time, many have realised that we need to coexist.”
Without ruling put 100% remote work, they will start working three days a week. So, TCS had announced the goal for 25×25 work by 2025. For at least 25% of the time, employees will need to provide services on-site, especially for customer service. The company ensures the guarantee enough flexibility based on individual requirements.
So, ruling out 100% remote work is going to be a process as employees get used to work from home flexibility.
