According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella companies should analyze data to determine how and when employees should return to work.

Microsoft recently announced that it has postponed its reopening indefinitely amidst a rise in Covid-19 delta variant cases. Satya Nadella discussed his views in an interview with CNBC.

“I’m looking forward to the entire world overcoming this challenge, because until we do so any particular company, region thinking they’ve found the answer, I think will just be shortsighted.”Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft

He also expressed that many Microsoft workers want the flexibility of remote work and many others want to return to office. The company terms this divide as hybrid work paradox.

“Sometimes we think about this pandemic or the impact of it one region at a time, but it’s a connected world. One thing we decided is from now on, we will just use data to really talk about any particular region being open.”Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft

According to Nadella, software can help with remote team management but it does have its limitations.

“The connection between the employee and the company’s mission, their leader and the team, I think is going to be the new currency. So that I think is also a place where technology and data can help.”Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft
