According to a new analysis from Remote.com, Madrid is the No. 1 best city for remote work.

The platform ranked the top 100 cities for remote work based on various factors. For example, they included quality of life, safety, internet infrastructure, and travel.

Additionally, they considered current economic factors, including inflation and whether they offer a digital nomad visa.

Digital nomad visas are becoming quite common and are now available in more than 50 countries.

So, why did Madrid rank as the best place for remote workers? According to the report, it has low taxes and expat visa options targeted toward freelancers and remote workers.

Plus, Spain also has its own digital nomad visa for “international teleworkers,” and a vast network of cafes and coworking spaces.

Madeira ranked as the second-best city for remote work. They offer “competitive tax rates, generous residency options, coworking, and living spaces built with digital nomads in mind.”

Portugal has become a popular destination for Americans, and the number of foreign residents has reached an all-time high in recent years.

Finally, Toronto made it as the third most popular location. They are known for their safety, quality of life, and economic growth.
