New App For Working Nomads

The Hong Kong-based company Flow launches an app for working nomads. The platform for space allows hourly booking (5-8h timeslots) of 3-5 star hotels.

Before the pandemic, you could book hotels for a minimum of a night. As the pandemic still impacts tourism and working habits, hotels promote more deals for working nomads

After analyzing the Hong Kong hotel market, the company launched the Flow app in early 2018. After that, the app became popular in Singapore and KL. More users started to opt for these solutions with the pandemic as borders were closed.

In addition, the company noticed that some guests look for a temporary room for partying, intimacy, or working. As a result, Flow ensures booking shorter stays without paying extra fees. As Flow co-founder and director of operations Eric Lai said: “So, we thought—why can’t users enjoy high-end hotel experiences and, at the same time, only pay for the exact hours they just need?.”

Between Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, the app for working nomads offers more than 200,000 room bookings – US$10 million more total booking volume to hotel partners.

The app provides three categories: Rest, Work (hot desks), and Meet (conference rooms). Especially in the era of hybrid arrangements, the app allows remote workers to stop in luxury hotels working in private rooms.
