Portugal’s Remote Work Residence Visa, a new employment-based visa for independent contractors and remote employees, is already accepting applications.
This route is a component of Portugal’s initiatives to include remote workers who are employed or self-employed overseas in employment-based visa programs; up until now, these people had to apply for a visa based on the supply of services or passive income.
Two entries are permitted, and the visa is valid for a maximum of 120 cumulative days. It is also extendable for an additional 90 days. Applicants must provide proof of residency and an income of EUR 940 per month, which is increased by 50% or 30% depending on the age of any accompanying family members. Currently, processing timeframes can last up to 60 days.
Portugal is one of the many countries welcoming remote workers snd digital nomads. The requirements are relatively easier to fulfil than some others.
