New York Is The Best State For Remote Work According To Study

According to a study by Amerisleep, New York is the best state for remote work topping the Total Index Score for work environment and home-living environment.

Research for the work environment category was basis the following factors:

  • Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.
  • Average commute time.
  • Monthly transportation cost.

The living environment data took into consideration the following factors:

  • Monthly utility bills.
  • Internet speed.
  • Broadband costs.

The study results revealed that New York is the best state for remote work with a Total Index Score of 83.07. New York has the longest commute time in the US averaging at 33.3 minutes. New York also has to the highest average internet speed of 190.5mbp. 

Colorado comes in second when it comes to working remotely, topping the list for home-living environment. The state’s monthly utility bills are low with an average $127.91 and internet prices average at $62.76. Illinois, Washington and Maryland followed.

South Dakota came in last, making it the worst state for remote work with a score of 55.97. Other four at the bottom were: Mississippi, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas.
