The whole world is adopting a remote work culture and UAE has taken a step to put a stamp of approval on your digital nomadic life!

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The United Arab Emirates Prime Minister, Vice President and ruler of Dubai, recently announced a new remote work visa that welcomes employees from all over the world to settle in UAE for a year. A multiple-entry tourist visa has been approved for all nationalities.

This decision was made in a meeting of the UAE cabinet. The cabinet is introducing a ‘virtual work residence permit’ that will allow remote workers to reside and work in the UAE. Even if the company the remote employee works for is based in a different country, they can live and work from the UAE. This promotes the UAE as an ideal destination to reside and work in.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted a series of tweets on his official account and made this announcement.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid tweeted on 21st March 2021, Sunday: “With the technologies of remote work today, we provide an opportunity for everyone to live in the most beautiful and safe cities in the world. In addition, we decided today to adopt multi-entry tourist visas for all nationalities. The UAE is a global economic capital and all our decisions will be based on this vision.”

This is a five-year visa that allows tourists to enter the UAE multiple times and stay for 3 months (90 days) on each of the visits. This can be extended for another 90 days and so on.

In comparison to the USA and Europe, the UAE is a relatively inexpensive place to stay in and is a really good option for remote workers. This is an exciting news for those who are starting their digital nomadic journey soon! Time to pack your bags and book your flights to the UAE already!
