Lisbon ranked as the best city for long-term remote workers according to the Savills Executive Nomad Index. The report analyzed different cities and took into account internet speed, quality of life, climate, air connectivity, and rents to determine the best cities for digital nomads.
The pandemic accelerated the remote work trend, making businesses adopt a flexible model faster. Additionally, remote work led thousands of people worldwide to look for a different lifestyle. In many cases, digital nomadism became the new trend, where people started long-term traveling and working simultaneously.
Lisbon Was Listed as The Best City for Long-term Digital Nomads
Besides having reliable internet speed and great quality of life, the cities featured in the Savills index, among other factors, also offer digital nomads a visa program or the equivalent.
Lisbon topped the index on its high quality of life, low pollution, favorable climate, and good air connectivity. According to Ricardo Garcia, head of residential at Savills Portugal (khaleejtimes):
“Tech executives and entrepreneurs are drawn by Lisbon’s burgeoning status as a tech hub. Real estate costs are low, and there is a strong local talent pool. Companies are moving their headquarters to Portugal.”
