Since the pandemic started, there has been an increase in digital nomads and remote workers. This has led cities to build incentive programs to attract these new types of workers as a way to boost their economy or population.
Top U.S Cities Offering Incentives to Digital nomads
Morgantown and Lewisburg, West Virginia
Applicants who don´t work in West Virginia can take a valued package of $20,000, including a cash stipend of $12,000 and other gifts and benefits valued at $8,000.
Greater Rochester, New York
Applicants living more than 300 miles from downtown Rochester and can relocate within six months of acceptance can obtain a $10,000 relocation incentive and $9,000 in homebuyer´s incentives.
Applicants working for an employer located outside of Michigan can take advantage of a $10,000 mortgage incentive (must purchase a home above $200,000) and $5,000 if their children enroll at a local public school.
Applicants who relocate within six months of being accepted and have a home within city limits will receive a $5,000 stipend for relocation as well as access to a coworking space valued at $3,000, membership to the local golf club worth $1,400, and a $500 health and wellness stipend.
It´s easy to apply, and the package they offer digital nomads is worth $15,000, including $5,000 per year over the years and up to $7,500 for those who become full-time employees in a business based in Vermont.
The estimated value of the incentive is $12,500. To qualify, you must buy a home valued at $190,000 or more in Newton. Additionally, digital nomads receive a cash incentive of $10,000 and discounts to local shops worth $2,500.
