In an email and through a Twitter threat, Brian Chesky, Airbnb CEO, announced the new remote work policy. Their’ live and work anywhere’ approach allows employees to work from home and up to 90 days of international work and travel.
Companies continue to announce their policies regarding work structures. In some cases, organizations opt for a hybrid model that prioritizes onsite work. In others, it’s all about flexibility.
Airbnb’s New Flexible Policy
Airbnb is adopting a “live anywhere, work anywhere” philosophy that allows employees to work remotely full-time and offers many perks such as 90 days of international work and travel.
In an email to employees (posted in the company’s blog) and in a Twitter thread, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky outlined the new policy in five major points:
- You decide where you want to work – from home or the office
- You can move anywhere in the country you work in and it won´t affect your salary
- You can work and travel
- We’ll meet up regularly for gatherings
- We´ll continue working in a highly coordinated way
Chesky also wrote according to Engadget:
“We want to hire and retain the best people in the world (like you). If we limited our talent pool to a commuting radius around our offices, we would be at a significant disadvantage. The best people live everywhere, not concentrated in one area. And by recruiting from a diverse set of communities, we will become a more diverse company. “
