Victorians have been sent back to the workplace more than two years after being instructed to work from home.

In a statement on Thursday, Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas said the government was abandoning its COVID-19 work-from-home proposals.

“With spring now here and case numbers and hospitalizations declining significantly, more people may want to get back into the office – and back out to the cafes, shops and bars in busy professional precincts across the state.”Mary-Anne Thomas, Health Minister

According to the statement, the action was taken in accordance with Health Department guidance that the strain on the healthcare system and transmission risk had decreased.

Employers and employees may still think about remote working options, according to the government, if they are fit for their company.

Following a national cabinet meeting when the COVID isolation time was shortened from seven to five days, Premier Daniel Andrews signalled on Wednesday that the recommendation was likely to alter.

The state will continue to have a pandemic status until at least October 12. In July, when COVID-19 instances began to rise, Victoria refrained from issuing orders compelling individuals to work from home.

According to Adina Cirson of the Property Council of Australia, the advocacy group was overjoyed by the information.

“Melbourne’s CBD (suburb) has suffered more than any other, with last month’s occupancy figure of 38 per cent a massive 14 points behind Sydney, which was the next highest.”Adina Cirson, Property Council of Australia

According to her, it would encourage additional activity and served as a vote of confidence for the city’s residents and companies.

“We know that our office occupancy since COVID is the worst in the country, and the small businesses in our city now have some hope that spring has sprung.”Adina Cirson, Property Council of Australia
