According to Willis Towers Watson´s 2022 Global Benefits Attitudes Survey, 44% of employees are currently “Job seekers.” Among these, 33% are active job hunters.
The pandemic led to companies shifting towards remote work models. Companies are calling employees back now that things are slowly returning to pre-pandemic times. This has led to people looking for different job opportunities that offer them more flexibility.
The Great Resignation Continues
The Great Resignation is a term coined by Anthony Klotz, professor of management at Texas A&M University. It refers to the ongoing economic trend in which employees across the United States voluntarily resigned. The most common causes were:
- Job dissatisfactions.
- Safety concerns in terms of COVID-19.
- Lack of remote work opportunities post-pandemic.
Willis Towers Watson´s 2022 Global Benefits Attitudes Survey suggests that the Great Resignation phenomenon continues to occur as 44% of employees are currently looking for a new job.
According to CNBC, Tracey Malcolm, global leader of the future of work and risk at the consulting firm, said:
“The data shows employees are prepared and open to go somewhere else.”
The firm surveyed $9,658 US employees from large and midsized private employers of various industries from December 2021 to January 2022.
