Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 1‑2 years of recent mortgage underwriting experience required.
- SAR experience is strongly preferred.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have high speed cable or fiber‑optic internet.
- Comfortable with a lifetime federal Background check.
- Comfortable with a soft credit check and collections check.
Basic Purpose
To evaluate and underwrite all mortgage loan types according to specific state and federal requirements to limit the risk exposure to the company’s mortgage portfolio and to analyze required loan documentation and information presented in the mortgage loan request, making appropriate loan decisions based on the acceptability of the credit risk using established guidelines, secondary market investors, and applicable state and government regulations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze mortgage loan information on loan documents such as income, assets, and credit criteria to confirm loan eligibility based on company guidelines and investor requirements, including independent scoring systems.
- Analyze exceptions and rejections; recommend alternative mortgage products to bring the loan within guidelines.
- Analyze self‑employed borrower income documentation.
- Approve mortgage loans and authorize loan disbursements based on complete analysis of submitted documentation and applicable rules and regulations.
- Determine the acceptability and marketability of the real estate property to ensure sufficient collateral to secure the loan.
- Prepare and present counter‑offers on marginal loans; prepare adverse action (loan disapproval) notifications, with awareness of compliance provisions of regulatory agencies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $22.02 – $39.93 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
