40% Of Managers Will Have Staff Work Remotely During Election Week

American voters are going to the polls today to choose their next president.

According to a new survey from ResumeBuilder, four in 10 managers will have staff work remotely during election week.

The study was conducted among over 1,000 U.S.-based managers.

In the months leading up to the U.S. presidential election, managers have reported increasing incivility in the workplace over politics.

Because of this and to avoid any unrest, many are having staff work from home on election day.

With an immediate outcome unlikely, for some companies, this will even apply to election week.

According to the survey, 30% say the election has caused conflicts among employees.

Additionally, 70% fear tensions will escalate post election.

Managers are dealing with strained relationships, verbal altercations, and ultimately, a decrease in team cohesion.

They say disagreements over politics are distracting employees and reducing overall output.

About a fourth of staff have refused to collaborate with coworkers holding different views.

According to the report, they have asked to work remotely as a way to avoid potential conflict.

Anytime there’s a significant emotional event, there seems to be a psychological distraction from work.
