In a recent shift regarding flexible work policies by a prominent company, Zoom, the pioneering force behind remote work during the pandemic, has mandated employees to return to the office.
Weekly10, an employee performance platform, examined Google search data in the past few days. The findings revealed that in response to this announcement, searches for ‘Remote work’ saw a rapid surge of 197% within a matter of hours in the UK.
The analysis further unveiled a notable uptick of 310% in searches for ‘Remote jobs,’ along with a substantial increase of 296% for ‘work from home.
A spokesperson for Weekly10 said:
“With the Zoom news being reported globally, it’s likely sent shockwaves through the working from home community, as this could be a trend that could continue, especially with a remote work pioneer like Zoom going back on the very thing it was designed to help with. Whether more companies follow, only time will tell, and it’s clear that many people are trying to lock down remote positions.”
