According to the survey by All About Vision, an eye health website, remote workers spend approximately 13 hours per day staring at the screen. This is almost two hours more than those working onsite.
One of the effects of working remotely is that employees tend to stay connected longer. As they don´t deal with commuting and have more time on their hands, they spend more time either working or connected to their computers.
All About Vision surveyed employees to see the impact of remote work, and these are their key findings:
- Remote workers spend 13 hours (or more) staring at a screen per day.
- Those working from home spend looking at a computer while working for 6 hours and 43 minutes compared to 6 hours and 11 minutes from onsite peers.
- Remote workers spend about 50 minutes more on social media apps than those who work from the office.
- 88% of respondents said they visited an eye doctor in the past 2 years, and 45% said they required a prescription.
