Philadelphia Mayor Demands City Employees to Return to the Office by July

Philadelphia

Philadelphia Mayor, Cherelle Parker, announced that all city employees are required to return to the office by July 15 of this year. Thi initiative aligns with her administration’s goal of “creating a more visible and accessible government”

This decision has the purpose to facilitate communication and collaboration between city workers, as she stated:

“Employee presence at the workplace allows for more personal and productive interactions, facilitates communication, promotes social connection, along with collaboration, innovation and inclusion.” Cherelle Parker

During this new return-to-office policy, leadership roles can occasionally permit remote work to address “periodic life circumstances.”

The policy also addresses child/elder care, increases paid parental leave, relaxation of sick days used for family, and makes the Friday after Thanksgiving a holiday.
