Namibia Announces Remote Work Visa

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) announced its remote work visa targeted for digital nomads or foreign nationals who want to work remotely for companies outside the country. 

One of the major impacts of the pandemic was the perception people had of work. It´s no longer to go to an office or even stay at the same location to perform successfully in a job role. People started traveling more and moving to different locations. Consequently, countries started emitting remote work visas to attract foreigners and boost their economies. 

Namibia´s Digital Nomad Visa

Namibia is one of the latest countries to introduce the digital nomad visa. The initiative comes as a strategy to revive the tourism sector, which was greatly impacted due to the pandemic. 

These are some of the things to know about the visa: 

In terms of requirements, applicants need proof of a minimum monthly income of $2,000, an additional $1,000 for the accompanying spouse, and an additional $500 for each child. They should also provide a bank statement for the past six months, a support letter from the employer, and a police clearance certificate from the country of residence. Local work in Namibia is not allowed with this visa.
