Preparing for the COP27 climate conference, Google announced the expansion of AI to predict flow and wildfire tracking tools.

Google has been implementing its tools for several years. Now, it will provide flood forecasts for river basins to additional 18 countries:

  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Sri Lanka
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cameroon
  • Chad
  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Ivory Coast
  • Ghana
  • Guinea
  • Malawi
  • Nigeria
  • Sierra Leone
  • Angola
  • South Sudan
  • Namibia
  • Liberia
  • South Africa

The first flood warnings for users were in India and Bangladesh, including Android devices and the Google Search app.

Furthermore, Google will launch Flood Hub, a tool displaying flood forecasts on a map and color-coded pins predicting when they might occur. The app will be available worldwide to support people at risk of floating.

Google AI to predict flow uses weather forecast data to predict flood warnings a week in advance, using these tools to deal with climate change.
