Dutch Parliament Approves Work From Home Legal Right

Amsterdam

The Dutch Parliament approved the legislation to make work from home a legal right. This means the Netherlands is one of the first countries to grant remote working by law.  The legislation was approved by the lower house of the bicameral parliament yesterday.

Countries have been adapting to the new remote work reality. Not only by granting digital nomad visas and permits but also by creating new laws. Portugal, for instance, created a law that makes it illegal for bosses to contact employees after working hours.

The new legislation approved by the Dutch Parliament enforces employers to consider requests to work remotely. This only applies to employees whose professions enable them to work from home, not those who can be affected in any instance by it.
