Digital Nomads Can Now Legally Work Remotely in Uruguay with a New Residency Permit

Uruguay

Uruguay has become one of Latinamerica most appealing destinations for digital nomads seeking a place to both work and live. Its recent passing of legislation grants digital nomads access to the country, obtaining residency permits that provide the opportunity to work legally while residing in Uruguay.

The application process for residency in Uruguay is a simple process that can be completed online. Applicants need to sign an affidavit stating they have the resources to support themselves financially and provide their personal information by completing an online form.

Applicants can apply for an additional six months extension after living in the country for six months. Those looking for an extension should show proof of a clean criminal record in countries where they have resided for a period of six months or more in the last five years.

Popular digital nomad cities in Uruguay are Punta del Este, Montevideo, and Colonia del Sacramento.
