South American countries continue embracing digital nomadism. Argentina and Brazil are working towards welcoming digital nomads by implementing new visas and building villages. And the latest country joining this trend is Colombia. What makes it even more exciting for many is that Colombia’s digital nomad visa is more affordable than in other countries; remote workers will only need to earn $684 per month.
During these past months, countries have been improving their infrastructure and implementing arrangements to make it possible for digital to live there for at least 6 months. However, digital nomads need to fulfill specific requirements to be eligible.
For example, in Costa Rica, nomads must earn at least $3,000 per month. Other countries like USA and UK also require similar amounts mainly due to the high cost of living.
Colombia and Its New Digital Nomad Visa
If you want to live and work in Colombia, you can do so for 90 days, with the possibility to be renewed for another 90 days. This new scheme can be extended for digital nomad visas for up to two years, provided you meet certain criteria.
Overall, you´ll need a valid passport, health insurance, and a letter from your employer to prove employment. And earn at least $684 per month.
Colombia´s new scheme will come into action on October 22.
