Best Cities to Work Remotely in 2022

Preply, an online learning platform, analyzed the conditions for remote work in the 74 most populated cities across the world. This week they released the results, and the best city to work remotely in is Brisbane in Australia. 

While during the last months of 2021, many employees returned to work from the office, this year due to Omicron employees in most cases will continue to work from home. And, in many cases, employees in companies that allow permanent remote work are looking for their next workation destination. 

Top 10 Cities to Work Remotely

To determine the ratings for each city, Preply used a “Workation Index.” Workation means work and vacation combined. This index focuses on analyzing three dimensions: Quality of Life, Climate and Environment, and Costs and Safety. The higher the rating, the more suitable a city is for remote work. 

According to the ranking, the best city to work remotely in is Brisbane in Australia. It has the best conditions to work virtually, with a perfect temperature, affordable cost of living, and access to health care. Surprisingly, just one city from North America made the top 10: Ottawa, Canada. The best U.S. city to make the list was Phoenix coming in 33rd. Other U.S. cities to rank were Los Angeles 58th, Washington 67th, and Chicago 69th.
