Most Asia-Pacific firms are speeding up their digital settings to improve their Cybersecurity. The aim is to accommodate remote and hybrid models, improving security education among employees. 

Conducted between March and May 2021, the EY’s 2021 Global Information Security Survey surveyed 1,010 respondents worldwide. Among the participants, 20% were from Asia-Pacific, 36% from the US, and 43% from Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa (EMEIA). 

According to this survey, 56% of Asia-Pacific businesses improve digital processes to accommodate remote and hybrid models. However, over 48% are concerned about cybersecurity problems after the pandemic.

To clarify, cybersecurity attacks are 41% higher in Asia than in the US. Before the pandemic, only 20% of Asia-Pacific businesses included Cybersecurity in their digital planning. Now, most companies are educating their employees to accommodate remote and hybrid models.

According to the survey: 

– 71% of cybersecurity leaders had a challenging relationship with business owners. 

– 44% didn’t engage with marketing and HR departments. 

– 57% of companies are unsure about their cyber defenses. 

– 73% recorded an increase of disruptive attacks, up from 47% in the 2020 report. 

– 47% warned their company about the inadequate budget for Cybersecurity.

Globally, cybersecurity attacks increased up to 29%. India is the top-most targeted country, followed by Italy, Israel, Australia, and Turkey. Acknowledging the threat, Asian-Pacific companies are transforming their arrangements to accommodate remote work.
