Most bosses are done with remote work. However, the heads of HR departments maintain that remote work is here to stay, especially among smaller companies.
So, which one is it? The latest research from KPMG found that 8 in 10 CEOs believe remote arrangements will no longer exist in three years or less.
As part of the research, the company surveyed 1,325 CEOs worldwide.
Additionally, the majority said they will reward employees who return to the office with choice assignments, raises or promotions.
It is important to note that the study mostly researched large companies. In those cases, the extinction of remote work is very likely.
According to further analysis, this could be because 90% of CEOs at large organizations are men. Remote and hybrid work mostly appeal to and benefit women, who continue to carry the load at home disproportionately.
The news don´t seem surprising with so many CEOs bashing remote work and instituting RTO policies.
However, those bosses could be making a mistake assuming employees will remain loyal. HR leaders continue their advise on keeping a “people-first” approach.
Regardless, employees at 9 in 10 companies expect to be fully back in the office by the year’s end. This is according to a survey of 1,000 people by the site Resume Builder.
Plus, in that same survey 7 in 10 reported that RTO has had a direct, positive impact on their company’s revenue. This would indicate that CEOs will continue to press their case.
